Course Description

This course is aimed at developing the professional performance skills of students studying in the Music Teaching major on their selected primary musical instrument (European instruments or traditional folk instruments). During the teaching process, systematic work is carried out on the technical capabilities of the instrument, performance techniques, correct fingering system, sound production, articulation, and dynamics.

The course serves to ensure that future music teachers are able to demonstrate high-quality instrumental performance while teaching music in general secondary schools. Through step-by-step work on the repertoire and the performance of folk and classical music pieces, artistic expressiveness, intonational accuracy, and rhythmic stability are developed.

At the same time, the course creates a necessary foundation for the correct use of instrumental accompaniment in the teacher’s pedagogical practice, the presentation of musical material through live performance during lessons, and increasing students’ interest in music. As a result, the Main Musical Instrument course plays a key role in the professional development of music teachers both as performers and as educators.
