A future we chose to build together

Qarabağ University was founded as a symbol of renewal and return - in a land that has long carried the strength, pain, and pride of the Azerbaijani people. It stands where memory and hope meet, reflecting both the scars of the past and the promise of a new beginning.

The Garabagh region, often called the cradle of Azerbaijani culture, is known for its mountain air, poetry, craftsmanship, and music that once echoed through its cities and villages. For nearly thirty years, this land was under illegal occupation by Armenia, its indigenous Azerbaijani population forced to leave their homes and its towns left in silence. After the liberation of Garabagh in 2020 and 2023, Azerbaijan began bringing life back to the region by rebuilding roads and homes, reopening schools, and welcoming back families who had waited for decades.

Garabagh's history runs deep. From the prehistoric Azikh Cave, one of the earliest human settlements in the world, to the mosques of Shusha and the ancient Albanian Christian churches scattered across the hills, this land has always been a meeting point of faiths and civilizations.

In this spirit, Qarabağ University is more than a place of study. It is a place of return - a commitment to knowledge, to identity, and to peace. It reflects the belief that rebuilding a region begins not only with stone and soil, but with learning and reconnecting with our indelible heritage.
