Zakir Asadov
Background
Zakir Asadov was born on March 22, 1986, in Aghstafa, Azerbaijan. In 1995,
he was admitted to the Bulbul Secondary Specialized Music School, majoring
in piano. During his studies, he performed with the State Symphony Orchestra
and actively participated in major school events.
In 2004, he became a laureate of the VII Nikolai Rubinstein International
Piano Competition in Paris. In 2005, he entered the Uzeyir Hajibeyli Baku
Music Academy, where he studied under Professor Saida Behbudova and
graduated in 2009.
Between 2006 and 2012, he was a soloist of the “Con Tempo” Contemporary
Music Ensemble, performing at national and international festivals and
presenting solo concert programs. He is the first performer of numerous
works by Azerbaijani composers, including concertos for piano and orchestra.
In 2016, he was admitted to the Master’s program at the Baku Music Academy,
where he conducted research and in 2018 published the book “The Phenomenon
of Georgi Sharoyev.”
Since 2009, he has been engaged in pedagogical activity, working as a piano
instructor, department head, and school director at various music schools.
In the 2024–2025 academic year, he served as Acting Director of Music School
No. 30 in Baku.
