Aybeniz Novrasli
Background
Aybaniz Novrasli was born in 1987 in Baku, Azerbaijan. In 2004, she graduated from the Bulbul Secondary Specialized Music School (Theory and History Department) and was admitted the same year to the Uzeyir Hajibeyli Baku Music Academy. She completed her Bachelor’s degree in 2008 (thesis on N. Mirishli’s “Ceremony” Symphony-Concerto) and her Master’s degree in 2010 with distinction under Professor Ulviyya Imanova, focusing on stylistic innovations in 20th-century Azerbaijani piano music.
In 2012, she won first place in the Elmira Abbasova Musicology Competition. In 2018, she defended her doctoral dissertation entitled “Stylistic Explorations of Aqshin Alizade in the Context of Contemporary Azerbaijani Music” and was awarded a PhD in Art Studies. From 2011 to 2025, she served at the Baku Music Academy, where she became Senior Lecturer and Academic Secretary of the Music History Department.
Novrasli is a compiler and editor of several significant publications, including Essays on Contemporary Music (2013) and Music Pearls of Azerbaijan (2021). She has actively participated in major international festivals and conferences and has delivered lectures in Azerbaijan, Turkey, Germany, Russia, Switzerland, the UAE, and the United States. Since 2024, she has been serving as Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Arts of Karabakh University.
