This course develops students’ ability to comprehend the fundamental elements of musical language, as well as its structural and developmental principles, on a scientific and theoretical basis. At the introductory stage, students are introduced to the core concepts of elementary music theory, including the sound system, musical notation, rhythm, meter, intervals, modes, tonality, and the principles of melodic and harmonic structure.

Subsequently, students are introduced to the fundamentals of harmony and counterpoint, learning to apply theoretical knowledge related to musical texture, polyphonic thinking, and the analysis of chord progressions. The Music Theory course enhances not only theoretical knowledge but also analytical thinking, creative reasoning, and the ability to perceive musical structure during performance.
