Course Description

This course develops students’ ability to comprehend the fundamental elements of musical language and the structural and developmental principles governing music through a scientific and theoretical approach. At the initial stage, students become familiar with the basic concepts of elementary music theory, including sound systems, musical notation, rhythm, meter, intervals, modes, tonality, and principles of melodic and harmonic structure.

In subsequent stages, students are introduced to the foundations of harmony and counterpoint, learning to apply theoretical knowledge in the analysis of chord progressions, the construction of musical texture, and the development of polyphonic thinking.

The music theory course not only provides students with solid theoretical knowledge but also fosters analytical thinking, creative musical perception, and the ability to structurally comprehend musical works during performance.
