Course Description
The course “Fundamentals of Ergonomics” is an essential component of design education, focusing on the scientific study of human–environment–object interactions. It introduces design principles that take human factors into account. The course aims to develop a human-centered design mindset in students, enabling them to understand the relationships between human physical dimensions (anthropometry), movement capabilities, behavioral patterns, psychological responses, and design objects such as spaces, graphic interfaces, and clothing forms.
This course enhances students’ ability to consider human–environment and human–object interactions within interior, graphic, and fashion design programs, preparing them to create design solutions that are safe, comfortable, functional, and aesthetically justified. Students learn to apply ergonomic principles in their future professional practice to develop designs that effectively meet human needs while maintaining visual and functional quality.
