Course Description
The aim of this course is to introduce students to the fundamental concepts and methods of mathematical logic and discrete mathematics. Topics include sets and set operations, their properties, and the algebra of logic. Students study propositions and their types, logical operations on propositions, and the formulas of propositional logic, including rules for evaluating their truth values, supported by practical examples. The course also covers essential logical equivalences, tautologies and contradictions, laws of logical operations, the principle of duality, and methods of transforming formulas into equivalent forms. Key topics such as Boolean algebra and the problem of satisfiability are also explored. Together, these concepts provide the foundational tools necessary for the study of discrete mathematical structures and logical reasoning.
