Anar Huseynli
Background
Anar Huseynli was born on 12 July 1978 in Shusha. Following the occupation of the city in May 1992, he relocated to Baku as an internally displaced person. He completed his early musical education in the tar class at Music School No. 36 in Baku and graduated from Secondary School No. 13 (Shusha) in 1995. The same year, he was admitted to the Uzeyir Hajibeyli Baku Academy of Music, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Solo Singing (1999), a Master’s degree in Vocal Performance (2001), and completed postgraduate studies (2003).
Huseynli began his professional stage career in the late 1990s and has represented Azerbaijani classical music in more than twenty countries across Europe and Asia. In 2007, he participated in the Bulbul IV International Vocal Competition and received a special prize. He has collaborated with prominent Azerbaijani composers and is also active as a composer, authoring numerous vocal and instrumental works. His song cycle “Khamsa,” dedicated to Nizami Ganjavi, has been incorporated into academic curricula.
Since 2007, he has served at the Azerbaijan National Conservatory and currently holds the academic rank of Associate Professor. He is a recipient of the honorary title Honored Artist of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the “Taraggi” Medal for his contributions to culture and education.
