Course Description
This course provides a rigorous mathematical treatment of the motion of particles and rigid bodies under the influence of forces. The curriculum begins with statics and kinematics, moving into the foundational principles of dynamics and Newton’s laws. Students explore advanced analytical methods, including the D'Alembert principle, virtual work, and the Lagrangian and Hamiltonian formulations of mechanics. The course emphasizes the transition from vector-based Newtonian mechanics to energy-based analytical mechanics, allowing for the study of complex constrained systems. By the end of the semester, students will be capable of formulating and solving the equations of motion for multi-body systems, providing the essential analytical framework required for structural engineering, robotics, and aerospace dynamics.
