Course Description
This advanced course builds upon foundational mechanics to analyze complex structural behaviors and stability under diverse loading conditions. The curriculum focuses on calculating beam deflections using various analytical methods, investigating statically indeterminate structures, and analyzing components under combined stress states. Students explore energy methods, such as Castigliano’s theorem, and the critical study of column buckling. The course emphasizes the application of advanced failure theories and the analysis of thick-walled pressure vessels. By the end of the semester, students will be capable of designing sophisticated structural elements that safely withstand multi-axial stress and stability-related challenges.
