Course Description
This course focuses on the analysis of physical systems in static equilibrium, where the summation of all forces and moments equals zero. The curriculum covers vector algebra, the equilibrium of rigid bodies, and the analysis of structures such as trusses, frames, and machines. Students study internal forces, friction effects, and the properties of surfaces, including centroids and moments of inertia. The course emphasizes the construction of free-body diagrams to solve complex force systems in two and three dimensions. By the end of the semester, students will be capable of determining the structural stability and internal loading of stationary components, providing a foundation for advanced structural design.
