Course Description
This course introduces the mathematical framework for quantifying uncertainty and making data-driven decisions. The curriculum covers fundamental probability concepts, including sample spaces, random variables, and key probability distributions such as Normal, Binomial, and Poisson. Students explore statistical inference techniques, including point and interval estimation, hypothesis testing, and regression analysis to identify trends. The course emphasizes the Central Limit Theorem and its role in modeling stochastic processes within engineering and financial systems. By the end of the semester, students will be capable of interpreting complex datasets, validating experimental results through p-values and confidence intervals, and making informed predictions under uncertainty—essential skills for modern data science, quality control, and advanced scientific research.
