Course Type
Elective - Block 2
Course Description
This course provides future mathematics teachers with essential knowledge of probability theory and statistical methods. Students study random events, probability rules, conditional probability, independent events, and discrete and continuous random variables. Key probability distributions such as binomial, Poisson, and normal distributions are introduced.
Statistical topics include data collection and representation, measures of central tendency and variability, correlation and simple regression, and the basics of statistical inference. Emphasis is placed on applying probability and statistics to real-life contexts and educational examples. The course also helps future teachers develop the skills needed to explain probabilistic thinking, guide data-based reasoning, and teach these topics clearly at the school level.
