Course Description
This course explores the structure, properties, synthesis, and reactions of organic compounds. It covers carbon atom hybridization and bonding, the structure and chemical behavior of major functional groups, as well as topics in isomerism and stereochemistry. The properties and key reactions of hydrocarbons and oxygen-, nitrogen-, and halogen-containing organic compounds are studied in depth. The course also examines reaction mechanisms, methods of organic synthesis, polymers, and the chemistry of biologically active organic substances. Students learn to explain the relationship between molecular structure and chemical properties, apply fundamental synthesis techniques, and evaluate the scientific and practical significance of organic chemistry.
