Course Description
This course introduces the major branches of microbiological science — including bacteriology, virology, mycology, and protozoology — and examines the structure, life processes, reproduction, ecology, and classification of microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses, fungi, and protozoa. Students explore the interactions of microorganisms with humans, animals, and plants, gaining an understanding of both their pathogenic effects and their beneficial roles in biotechnology, agriculture, and environmental systems. Special attention is given to viral structure, replication mechanisms, the biology of different virus groups, and their significance in health, ecological balance, and scientific research. Through an integrative approach with related disciplines, the course aims to develop a strong foundation in microbiology and equip students with the skills necessary to apply microbiological knowledge in practical and educational contexts.
