Course Description
This course studies the legal regulation of relations among states and other subjects of international law. Students examine the features of international legal regulation in international relations, the subjects and sources of international law, the law of treaties and the principles of international law, including how international norms operate within national legal systems and how national and international law interact. The course covers responsibility in international law, peaceful settlement of disputes, the law of international organizations and the legal framework of international security and foreign relations. It also examines territory in international law and specialized fields including the law of the sea, air law, space law, international economic law, international environmental law, international humanitarian law and international criminal law, enabling students to understand how international law shapes state conduct and the role of law within global politics.
