Background

Dr. Gulamhuseyn Mammadov has a PhD in History from Ege University (2021-2026). He holds a BA (2011-2015) and MA (2016-2018) in History from Baku State University.

He has an academic background in modern and contemporary history, with a particular focus on Azerbaijan and the broader Middle East. His studies and research combine historical and political analysis, with attention to regional dynamics, identity formation and state-society relations. His academic training at Baku State University and ongoing doctoral research in Türkiye have provided him with a comparative perspective on Soviet, Iranian and regional historical processes.

His work includes the article “Iranian Azerbaijanis - from a ‘Well Integrated’ Ethnic Minority to a Different Identity?” published in the Iranian Studies Journal (2023).
