Course Description
This course is one of the fundamental academic disciplines aimed at studying the stages of cultural development of human civilization through the visual arts. The History of Fine Arts covers artistic periods, movements, aesthetic principles, and creative methods from ancient times to the Renaissance.
The course seeks to provide students with a systematic understanding of the historical development of world art, its social, cultural, and philosophical contexts, and the similarities and differences between artistic phenomena of various periods. It also emphasizes the role of art in shaping the intellectual and spiritual development of society.
Students develop a broad artistic worldview, study artistic movements, styles, and techniques from ancient cultures through the Renaissance on a scholarly basis, analyze artists’ creative principles and technologies, and examine the interaction between artworks and their historical and cultural environments. The course also cultivates critical and analytical thinking skills through the contextual analysis of artworks in relation to society, religion, and ideology.
