Course Description
This course introduces major civilizations from prehistory to the sixteenth century and examines global historical change through political, social, economic and cultural transformations. Students study Mesopotamia, Egypt, the Indus Valley, China, Greece and Rome alongside classical India and major civilizations of Africa and the Americas, focusing on political organization, religious worldviews, social structures and cultural achievements. The course also explores the formation of societies, the spread of ideas and technologies and the impact of early global interactions on cultural development.
