Rana Hasanova-Babazade
Background
Rana Hasanova Alakbar was born on 16 July 1992 in Dashkasan. She completed her secondary education between 1998 and 2009 at Secondary School No. 112 located in the Pirshagi settlement of Baku. In 2009, she was admitted to Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction, where she studied Land Management, Land and Urban Cadastre, and graduated with honors in 2013. From 2013 to 2015, she pursued her master's degree in Land Cadastre at Baku State University and graduated with honors.
Since 2015, she has been a doctoral student at the Institute of Space Research of Natural Resources of the National Aerospace Agency of Azerbaijan. Her research focuses on the topic “Assessment of Soil Salinization Using Remote Sensing Data.” She is the author of 8 scientific articles and 16 conference abstracts. Between 2017 and 2025, she worked as an operator and research scientist at the Institute of Soil Science and Agrochemistry of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan. From 2016 to 2021, she worked as a lecturer at the Construction College affiliated with Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction.
In 2019–2020, she participated in a grant project organized by SOCAR titled “Monitoring and Study of the Degradation of Oil-Polluted Soils Using Satellite Data and GIS Technologies.”
In 2020, she was awarded second place in the competition “Innovative Map Creation Using GIS Methods,” implemented within the framework of the 13th Grant Competition of the Youth Foundation of Azerbaijan. In 2023, she participated in the preparation of the “Soil Atlas of Asia,” a continent-wide project covering various soil types implemented by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and the European Commission. Since 2026, she has been working at the Faculty of Engineering of Karabakh University.
