Course Description
This course examines the motion of particles and rigid bodies under the influence of forces. The curriculum focuses on kinematics, which describes the geometry of motion, and kinetics, which relates motion to its causes through Newton’s Second Law and the principles of work, energy, impulse, and momentum. Students analyze systems involving linear and angular motion, vibrations, and impact. The course emphasizes the development of mathematical models to predict the time-dependent behavior of mechanical systems. By the end of the semester, students will be capable of solving complex engineering problems involving moving components, structural vibrations, and dynamic loading conditions.
