Course Description
This course introduces the mathematical structures that are fundamentally discrete rather than continuous, providing the theoretical foundation for computer science. The curriculum covers logic, set theory, and proof techniques, including mathematical induction. Students explore combinatorics, graph theory, and Boolean algebra, which are essential for circuit design and algorithm analysis. The course emphasizes discrete structures such as trees, relations, and functions. By the end of the semester, students will be able to apply discrete mathematical reasoning to model computational problems, design database schemas, and optimize networking protocols.
