Adil Akhundov
Background
Adil Akhundov was born on 13 August 1960 in Baku, Azerbaijan. Demonstrating a strong interest in music from an early age, he pursued higher education at the Uzeyir Hajibeyov Azerbaijan National Conservatory between 1990 and 1996, completing an advanced degree in Vocal Performance (recognized at the time as equivalent to a Master’s degree). He studied under the distinguished opera singer, choirmaster, pedagogue, and People’s Artist of Azerbaijan, Mursel Badirov.
In 1993, Akhundov was appointed soloist of the Azerbaijan State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre named after M.F. Akhundzadeh. Throughout his stage career, he has performed leading roles in prominent classical operas, including La Traviata, Tosca, Pagliacci, and Carmen, demonstrating refined vocal technique and interpretative mastery.
From 2012 to 2025, he served as an accompanist (illustrator) at the Uzeyir Hajibeyov Baku Music Academy, contributing to the professional training of vocal students. Since October 2025, he has continued his pedagogical career as a faculty member at Karabakh University, where he remains actively engaged in academic and artistic activities.
