Course Description
This course teaches the fundamental concepts and principles of transport insurance, covering the types of risks associated with various modes of transport (road, rail, air, sea). It examines cargo insurance (Marine/Cargo), hull insurance (for vehicles/vessels), and liability insurance for carriers and freight forwarders. The curriculum focuses on insurance policies, documentation (e.g., Certificates of Insurance), and international conventions governing transport liabilities. It covers the process of loss assessment, claim procedures, and subrogation rights. Furthermore, it studies the role of reinsurance and the importance of insurance in risk mitigation within the global logistics chain. The course develops students' abilities to analyze transport risks, select appropriate insurance coverage, and manage claims effectively to protect goods and assets in transit.
