Course Description
This course teaches the fundamental concepts and principles of transport geography, examining the spatial organization and distribution of transport networks and their socio-economic impact. It covers the classification of transport systems and the factors influencing the location and density of transport infrastructure.
The curriculum focuses on the geography of cargo and passenger flows, including the analysis and modeling of traffic patterns at regional, national, and international levels. It examines the role of geopolitical factors, trade routes, and transport corridors (e.g., TRACECA, North-South) in shaping global logistics. Furthermore, it studies the interrelation between transport infrastructure and regional development, addressing issues like accessibility, connectivity, and environmental effects from a geographical perspective. The course develops students' abilities to analyze geographical factors in transport planning and make strategic decisions regarding network development and route selection.
