[Block 4.2] Surgery (Pharmacology, Emergency Medicine, General Surgery, Gastroenterology, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Public Health, Family Medicine)

Course Description
This block covers the diagnosis of surgical diseases, preoperative preparation, intraoperative management and postoperative care. It aims to develop students’ skills in invasive procedures, sterile technique, asepsis and a culture of surgical safety, alongside clinical reasoning in surgical decision-making and rehabilitation planning.
In General Surgery, students learn the etiology, differential diagnosis, indications for surgery and postoperative follow-up of common surgical conditions.
In Gastroenterology, they explore surgical and conservative treatment approaches to gastrointestinal diseases and assess the relationship between nutrition, metabolism and surgery.
In Obstetrics and Gynecology, students develop clinical skills related to women’s reproductive health, childbirth and protection of maternal and fetal safety.
In Pharmacology, principles of perioperative and postoperative drug use, pain management and antibiotic prophylaxis are applied.
In Emergency Medicine, students acquire competencies in the management of trauma, hemorrhage, shock and polytrauma.
In Public Health and Family Medicine, early detection of surgical diseases, rehabilitation and community support are emphasized.
