Course Description
This course covers the principles of analyzing and designing structural elements using steel. The curriculum focuses on the behavior of tension members, columns, beams, and beam-columns based on limit state design philosophies. Students learn to design secure connections using bolts and welds, while considering lateral-torsional buckling and local stability. The course emphasizes the application of national and international design codes (such as Eurocode 3 or AISC). By the end of the semester, students will be capable of designing safe, efficient, and sustainable steel frames for industrial buildings, bridges, and high-rise structures.
