Course Description

This course is aimed at developing theoretical knowledge and practical skills in reading and analyzing musical scores. During the course, students learn to read ensemble and orchestral scores of various instrumentations, perceive multiple musical lines simultaneously, analyze musical texture, and identify the structural organization of musical material.

Within the course framework, special attention is given to transposition, clef changes, reading rhythmic and polyphonic structures, and mastering conventional symbols used in musical scores. The course contributes to the development of students’ ability to perceive musical texts holistically, comprehend multi-voiced textures through both auditory and visual reading, and acquire essential score-reading skills required for conducting, collaborative piano (accompaniment), and pedagogical activities.
