Course Description
This course teaches the technical principles and operational features of railway transport, covering the structure of railway tracks and infrastructure (e.g., signaling, power supply). It examines the types and construction of rolling stock including locomotives, passenger cars, and various freight wagons. The curriculum focuses on railway traffic control and management systems, methods for optimizing train schedules, and technologies for ensuring safety and security in rail operations. It covers the specifics of cargo handling, terminal operations, and mechanized loading/unloading at rail yards. Furthermore, it studies the maintenance and repair technologies for railway vehicles and infrastructure, and the role of modern digitalization and automation in enhancing efficiency and capacity. The course develops students' abilities to analyze and apply core railway technologies to manage and optimize freight and passenger transportation processes.
