Course Description
This course examines the application of solid-state electronics for the control and conversion of electric power. The curriculum focuses on the principles of power semiconductor devices, including thyristors, MOSFETs, and IGBTs. Students analyze various converter topologies, such as AC-DC rectifiers, DC-DC choppers, and DC-AC inverters. The course emphasizes pulse-width modulation (PWM) techniques and thermal management in power circuits. By the end of the semester, students will be capable of designing efficient power conversion systems for industrial motor drives, renewable energy interfaces, and modern electric vehicle technologies.
