Course Description
This course covers the fundamental physical concepts and laws necessary for the study and teaching of chemistry. Topics include classical mechanics, heat and thermodynamics, waves and optics, electricity and magnetism, and atomic and nuclear physics. Special emphasis is placed on the physical foundations of chemical processes—molecular motion and gas laws, energy exchange, entropy and heat balance, basic electrochemistry, and the physical principles underlying the structure of matter. Students learn to explain chemical phenomena from a physical perspective, apply physical measurement techniques in experiments, and evaluate the interconnections between physics and chemistry.
