Course Description
This course introduces the structure of matter, the physical foundations of chemical processes, and the properties of dispersed systems. It covers the fundamental laws of thermodynamics, chemical equilibrium, phase transitions, reaction rates and kinetics, molecular motion, and the properties of solutions. The colloid chemistry component examines the preparation, structure, and stability of colloidal systems; adsorption phenomena; surface tension; and the characteristics of dispersed systems such as emulsions, aerosols, and gels. Students learn to explain the physical principles underlying chemical reactions, analyze the behavior of dispersed systems, and evaluate the applications of physical and colloid chemistry in teaching, industry, and technology.
