Course Description
This block covers the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases in children and adolescents. Its aim is to build competencies in monitoring growth and development, immunization, nutrition, and psychosocial well-being, and to strengthen family- and community-oriented pediatric care. It develops clinical observation, treatment planning, and communication skills.
In Pediatrics, students learn clinical assessment of pediatric diseases, physical examination, monitoring of growth and development, vaccination planning and early detection of illness.
In Pharmacology, they gain competencies in pediatric dosing, toxicity, adverse effects and drug interactions.
In Family Medicine, they learn principles of family dynamics, communication with parents, home management of illness and referral.
In Emergency Medicine, they study initial assessment, emergency interventions and resuscitation in acute pediatric conditions (e.g., respiratory distress, fever, shock).
In Obstetrics and Gynecology, emphasis is placed on adolescent health, reproductive education and the interrelation of maternal and child health.
