Course Description
This course is designed to study the historical origins, structural characteristics, and classification principles of musical instruments. Throughout the course, string, wind, percussion, and keyboard instruments from various cultures are examined from morphological, acoustic, and performance-related perspectives.
Within the framework of the course, the sound production mechanisms of musical instruments, their timbral characteristics, technical capacities, and functional roles within ensemble and orchestral settings are systematically explained.
The course aims to develop students’ ability to identify musical instruments, distinguish their sonic possibilities, and apply this knowledge appropriately in performance and pedagogical practice.
