Course Description
The Orchestration course is a theoretical–practical discipline aimed at developing students’ skills in arranging and scoring musical works for orchestras of various configurations, based on principles of instrumental timbre characteristics, range, technical capabilities, texture, dynamics, and artistic dramaturgy.
Within the course framework, students acquire both theoretical knowledge and practical competencies related to orchestral score construction, the functional roles of instrumental groups, timbral combinations, principles of instrument pairing, instrumental balance, register distribution, sound allocation, and orchestral writing styles. The course fosters an understanding of how orchestral sound is shaped artistically and structurally to achieve expressive and stylistically coherent musical interpretations.
