Course Description
This course introduces mathematical algorithms used to find approximate solutions to engineering problems that cannot be solved analytically. The curriculum covers root-finding techniques, systems of linear equations, and numerical integration and differentiation. Students explore curve fitting through interpolation and regression, as well as numerical solutions for ordinary and partial differential equations. The course emphasizes the assessment of truncation errors and stability in computational models. By the end of the semester, students will be capable of implementing these methods using software tools to simulate complex physical phenomena and optimize structural designs.
