Course Description
This course introduces the algorithmic techniques for obtaining approximate solutions to mathematical problems that cannot be solved analytically. The curriculum focuses on error analysis, root-finding algorithms (such as the Newton-Raphson method), and systems of linear equations. Students explore numerical differentiation, integration, and the solution of ordinary differential equations using Euler and Runge-Kutta methods. The course emphasizes curve fitting, interpolation, and the stability of numerical algorithms when implemented on digital computers. By the end of the semester, students will be capable of developing robust computational models and verifying the precision of numerical results, providing essential tools for simulation in structural engineering, fluid dynamics, and optimization in various scientific fields.
