Professor Mehmet Akman of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Qarabağ University represents the university as Editor-in-Chief of the reputable Primary Health Care Research & Development journal, published by Cambridge University Press.

Primary Health Care Research & Development is a well-recognized international scientific journal in the field of primary healthcare. It is indexed in the Web of Science (SCIE) database and has an impact factor of approximately 1.7.

M. Akman also serves as a member of the Executive Board of the European Forum for Primary Care (EFPC). It should be noted that the journal is the official scientific publication of EFPC and plays a significant role in shaping the international academic environment in the field of primary healthcare policy and practice.

Professor Mehmet Akman is an internationally recognized expert in primary healthcare and family medicine. His academic work focuses on the organization and integration of primary healthcare services, the development of competency-based medical education models, strengthening healthcare systems, and improving service quality. In addition, he has extensive academic and practical experience in medical curriculum development, interprofessional education approaches, and patient safety.

Professor Akman has had a distinguished 24-year academic career at Marmara University, one of Türkiye’s leading higher education institutions. Since August 2025, he has been serving as a visiting professor at Karabakh University’s Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, and since March 2026, he has continued his work as a full-time member of the faculty.
