A Karabakh University Faculty Member Participates in an International Seminar

Orkhan Gulahmadov, a faculty member of the Faculty of Engineering at Karabakh University and PhD in Physics, participated in the international seminar COST Action CA23136 – CHIROMAG (“Magnetism and Chirality: Twisting Spins, Light, and Lattices for Faster-than-Ever Spintronics”), held on February 17–20, 2026, at the International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory (INL) in Braga, Portugal.

The prestigious CHIROMAG seminar brought together leading scientists and experts from more than 30 countries working in the fields of magnetism, chirality, spintronics, nanotechnology, and advanced materials.

Within the framework of the event, recent scientific advancements were presented and extensively discussed in areas such as magnetic chirality, spin waves and their quasiparticle carriers—magnons, functional nanomaterials, topological spin structures, and other cutting-edge research directions, fostering broad multidisciplinary dialogue.

During the seminar, O. Gulahmadov presented the results of his research in the fields of energy converters, photocatalytic nanostructures, and nanocomposite materials. In addition, opportunities for future joint scientific research projects were explored.

As part of the program, an official visit was organized to the Spintronics and Microscopy Center of INL, where participants were introduced to the centers’ modern infrastructure, high-precision experimental equipment, and advanced research направления.

During the meetings, prospects for future scientific collaboration were thoroughly discussed, including joint applications to COST and other international calls, as well as grant and internship opportunities for early-career researchers.
