A Theatrical Performance Dedicated to the Khojaly Genocide Presented by Students of Karabakh University
A commemorative event dedicated to the 34th anniversary of the Khojaly genocide was held at Secondary School No. 4 named after Nizami Ganjavi in the city of Khankendi, organized by the Drama Club with the support of the Student Affairs Center of Karabakh University.
The event commenced with the performance of the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan, followed by a one-minute moment of silence in honor of the victims of the Khojaly genocide.
The primary objective of the event was to pay tribute to the memory of the victims, to convey historical truths to the younger generation, and to contribute to the preservation of national memory.
In his address, Geray Zeynalli, a representative of the Student Affairs Center of Karabakh University, spoke about the historical and political nature of the Khojaly tragedy, its assessment within the framework of international law, as well as the importance of preserving national memory and fostering patriotism among the younger generation. Within the framework of the commemoration, information was also provided regarding the consequences of the tragedy and the profound traces it has left in the collective memory of the Azerbaijani people.
The event continued with an artistic segment, during which members of the Karabakh University Drama Club presented a dramatic novella entitled “I Am Proud of You.” The performance depicted the pain of the Khojaly tragedy, human destinies, love for the homeland, and motifs of national pride.
At the same time, the presentation conveyed the unwavering determination of the Azerbaijani people, their belief in the restoration of justice, and the sense of pride inspired by the historic Victory, while demonstrating that the memory of the martyrs is held in the highest esteem.
The students’ stage performance was received with great interest and emotional sensitivity by the audience.
