Preserving the Purity of the Azerbaijani Language in the Modern Age
The event was organized to mark 21 February – International Mother Language Day, highlighting the importance of safeguarding linguistic heritage and encouraging the accurate and responsible use of the Azerbaijani language.
Organized by the Department of Philology of the School of Education, the event was opened by the Dean of the School, Kaklik Gozalova. The keynote speaker, Sevinc Aliyeva, Doctor of Philology, Professor, and Head of the Monitoring and Linguistic Analysis Department at the Nasimi Institute of Linguistics of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, delivered an insightful presentation. In her talk, she addressed contemporary challenges related to preserving the purity of the Azerbaijani language and discussed ongoing initiatives aimed at promoting its proper use in public and academic discourse. The session also included an interactive discussion, during which she responded to questions from students and participants.
Fariz Ahmadov, Vice-Rector for Science and Innovation, expressed his appreciation for the informative presentation and emphasized the importance of the topic. He highlighted the need to raise awareness among younger generations about the preservation and responsible use of their native language.
Following this, Azizagha Najafov, Head of the Department of Philology, along with other participants, contributed to the discussion by sharing their perspectives and remarks.
At the conclusion of the event, Professor Sevinc Aliyeva donated several books authored and edited by her to the university library.
The program dedicated to International Mother Language Day continued with a roundtable discussion at the Department of Philology, attended by the academic staff of the School of Education.
