Course Description
This course explores the chemical principles, synthesis methods, and technological applications of materials at the nanoscale. It introduces the unique physical, chemical, and optical properties of nanoparticles, nanostructures, and nanoscale systems. Topics include bottom-up and top-down fabrication techniques, characterization methods such as electron microscopy and spectroscopy, and the design of nanomaterials for targeted functions. Students examine applications of nanotechnology in fields such as medicine, energy, electronics, catalysis, and environmental protection. The course also addresses issues of safety, toxicity, sustainability, and ethical considerations related to nanomaterials.
