Course Description
This course is devoted to the study of the formation characteristics of musical cultures of various peoples, as well as the diversity of musical genres and styles. Throughout the course, traditional music examples from different regions of the world are examined within their historical, cultural, and geographical contexts. Students are introduced to musical systems, modal–intonational features, rhythmic structures, and performance traditions characteristic of different cultures.
Within the framework of the course, the musical heritage of Eastern and Western cultures, as well as the traditional music of Asian, African, American, European, and Turkic peoples, is explored through listening materials and comparative analysis.
The course aims to develop students’ understanding of the diversity of musical cultures, to familiarize them with different modes of musical thinking, and to provide general theoretical knowledge of multicultural musical environments.
