Course Description
This course provides a comprehensive understanding of the goals and objectives of materials science, focusing on the fundamental properties of metals and alloys. The curriculum covers the crystallization processes, mechanical properties, and the theoretical foundations of alloy formation, with a specialized analysis of the Iron-Carbon phase diagram. Students explore advanced treatment technologies, including thermal, thermo-chemical, and thermo-mechanical processing. Beyond ferrous metals like alloyed steels and cast irons, the course examines non-ferrous metals, ceramics, glass, and concrete. Significant emphasis is placed on polymers, including di-, tri-, and polyblock copolymers, as well as the reinforcement of elastomers and polymer coatings. Additionally, the course addresses the properties of electrotechnical materials, preparing students to select and apply appropriate materials for complex engineering and electrical systems.
