Course Description

This course is aimed at developing professional performance skills on the selected principal musical instrument (European instruments or traditional folk instruments) for students majoring in Music Education. During the instructional process, systematic work is carried out on the technical capabilities of the instrument, performance techniques, correct fingering systems, sound production, articulation, and dynamics.

The course is designed to ensure that future music teachers are able to demonstrate high-quality instrumental performance during music instruction in general secondary education schools. Through staged work on repertoire and the performance of folk and classical music pieces, students develop artistic expressiveness, intonational accuracy, and rhythmic stability.

At the same time, the course provides a necessary foundation for the effective use of instrumental accompaniment in pedagogical practice, the presentation of musical material through live performance during lessons, and the enhancement of students’ interest in music. Ultimately, the “Major Instrument” course plays a key role in the professional formation of music teachers, both as performers and as educators.
