Course Description
This course is designed to further refine the professional performance skills of students specializing in traditional vocal performance (khananda singing) within the Azerbaijani mugham tradition. Within the instructional framework, students engage in an advanced and systematic study of the performance characteristics of mugham dastgahs, rhythmic mughams, tasnifs, and folk melodies.
Through this course, students enhance the proper use of the vocal apparatus, advanced breathing techniques, intonation accuracy, ornamentation, and improvisational skills. By developing a deeper understanding of the modal–intonational structure, developmental logic, and expressive potential of mughams, students learn to apply these elements in accordance with national performance traditions.
The course emphasizes ensemble coordination with instrumental accompaniment, expressive and emotionally accurate performance delivery, stage behavior, and professional ethics of the khananda. In addition, students are prepared for concerts and mugham evenings, with continuous training focused on mastering live performance culture and professional stage experience.
