Course Description
This course teaches the fundamental concepts and importance of loading and unloading (L/U) operations in ensuring efficient transport logistics. It covers the classification of cargo handling technologies and the principles of mechanization and automation in L/U processes. The curriculum focuses on the types and usage of specialized handling equipment (e.g., cranes, forklifts, conveyors) and methods for optimizing equipment layout in transport terminals and warehouses. It examines the procedures for safe and secure loading, fastening, and securing cargo on various modes of transport. Furthermore, it studies the time and cost analysis of L/U cycles, methods for minimizing idle time, and the importance of labor safety and regulatory compliance in cargo handling. The course develops students' abilities to plan, organize, and manage efficient and safe loading and unloading operations within the logistics chain.
