Course Description
This course explores the interconnected network of physical objects embedded with sensors, software, and other technologies for the purpose of exchanging data over the internet. The curriculum focuses on IoT architecture, including sensing layers, communication protocols (like MQTT and Zigbee), and cloud integration. Students study the integration of microcontrollers, data analytics, and the security challenges inherent in connected systems. The course emphasizes practical applications in smart homes, industrial automation (IIoT), and environmental monitoring. By the end of the semester, students will be capable of designing end-to-end IoT solutions, from hardware interfacing to data processing, enabling them to build "smart" environments that improve efficiency and decision-making through real-time connectivity.
