This course provides systematic and comprehensive knowledge of the international security system and develops an in-depth understanding of the theoretical, conceptual and legal foundations of contemporary security. Students analyze global and transnational threats and the mechanisms used to address them, and examine how armament, disarmament policy and arms limitation challenges affect international stability. The course studies the interdependence between armed conflict and international security and explores the growing significance of information security and energy security, as well as regional security problems across different regions and states. Students also examine national security strategies of leading powers and how these strategies influence the balance of forces in the international system, building analytical capacity to assess global risks and develop practical knowledge and skills for security policy thinking.
